Deirdre arrived in Sioux Falls in July 2021 from Brooklyn, New York. Despite a growing interest in sustainability, she quickly learned her limitations here. As an apartment resident, there is no option to recycle food scraps or compost. The absence led her to creating her own solution — SoDak Compost.

Raised in Sioux Falls, Carlos has a strong connection to nature and is passionate about the power of composting. Carlos is dedicated to educating and engaging the community on the benefits of turning food "waste" into a valuable resource for our earth. His work as a community composter not only supports environmental sustainability but also fosters a stronger, more connected community.

COMMUNITY COMPOST SPECIALIST

Haley Jo is passionate about sustainability and creativity. As a local Sioux Falls artist, stagehand, and dedicated volunteer with the Sioux Falls Tool Library, she actively supports the local music scene. In her free time, she enjoys capturing the beauty of nature on her 35mm Canon during peaceful nature walks.

COMMUNITY COMPOST SPECIALIST

Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Allison grew up always being outside and having a compost bin in her backyard. When she moved to Sioux Falls in 2021, Allison was thrilled to find SoDak Compost as an option for keeping her food scraps out of the landfill. From a drop-off participant to joining SoDak Compost's team, Allison finds joy is seeing the composting process from start to finish. With a career background in wildlife education and sustainability, she loves sharing her knowledge with the community to foster connections with the natural world.
